Prayer Room Carpet and Musalla Carpet
A prayer room carpet turns an ordinary room into a place people can pray in properly: the rows face the qibla, the surface is clean and soft for prostration, and the carpet is easy to keep that way. We weave musalla carpet for prayer rooms in workplaces, universities, airports, hospitals and community centres, cut to the room rather than to a standard rug size.

What Makes a Good Prayer Room Carpet
Three things matter more than anything else. The prayer lines must face the qibla, which in most buildings means they run at an angle to the walls, so the carpet is planned on the room's drawing rather than laid square. The surface must be comfortable for prostration without being so deep that it shows every footprint. And the room is usually shared and busy, so the quality must be easy to clean — dense acrylic is the common choice, wool where the budget allows.
Musalla Carpet for Workplaces and Campuses
In the UK and South Africa a prayer room is often simply called a musalla. Universities, hospitals and employers now provide them as a matter of course, and facilities teams tend to want the same things: a carpet that looks considered rather than improvised, prayer lines that make the room easy to use without instructions, and a supplier that can carpet several rooms on different sites to one standard. We weave all of them in one production run so the design and colour match.
Rows Set to the Qibla
Send us the room plan with a north arrow, or the qibla direction marked on it, and we lay the prayer lines on the drawing so they face the right way and use the room efficiently. Each row is deep enough for a worshipper to prostrate comfortably — typically somewhere between 110 and 130 cm — and the last row is never left short.
Designs That Suit Non-Mosque Spaces
Corporate and campus prayer rooms usually call for a quieter look than a mosque. Plain prayer-line designs and tone-on-tone grounds sit well in a modern interior, while still marking each row clearly. Any design in our catalogue can be woven in any of our standard colours, or matched to the building's palette.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a musalla carpet?+
A musalla is a prayer room or prayer space. A musalla carpet is the carpet laid in it, with prayer lines facing the qibla so worshippers form straight rows.
How much does prayer room carpet cost?+
Ex-works from our factory, from about $9.38 per m² ($0.87 per sq ft) for plain acrylic prayer-line carpet, up to around $34 per m² for wool. Freight, duty and fitting are extra.
Can the carpet be made for a small or oddly shaped room?+
Yes. We plan it on the room's drawing, including the angle of the qibla, so the rows fit the room and no row is cut short.
Can you supply prayer rooms on several sites?+
Yes. Weaving every room in one production run keeps the design and colour identical across all of them.
